James Holloway has an infectious smile that spills over your heart when you meet him for the first time. James Holloway is an award-winning actor, recording artist, songwriter, director, producer, professor, and screenwriter. He is a professor for Acting at Pace University’s School of Performing Arts and was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
James’s writing prowess has been on the rise and on display for the screen and for song. He currently has a finalist placing screenplay entitled “REAL MEN” in development, gearing up to go into production by next year.
James’s hit single “No Smile” marked his first musical entry with popular London-based producer, DSOUNDS (Dino Kararic) and their new track “Bye” is sizing up to become their breakout song. James has appeared in television shows and films that have screened at Cannes Film Festival all the way to airing on HBO, Showtime, ABC, NBC, BET, and more.
James has been highly praised by audiences and critics alike for his performances onstage at Tony Award-winning and Off-Broadway theaters all across America. He’s the recipient of the BroadwayWorld Award-Los Angeles for Best Featured Actor in ‘Broken Fences’ at The Road Theatre Company and was nominated for an Audelco Award for his work in ‘Separate and Equal’ at 59E59 Theaters in New York City. He’s originated roles in ‘Tiny Houses’ at Cleveland Play House and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, ‘History of the Word’ at Crossroads Theatre; and ‘The Men’ at Primary Stages. Other select work in theatre includes ‘Superior Donuts’ at Geva Theatre Center; ‘Fences’ at Bristol Riverside Theatre; ‘Weekend Comedy’ at The New Theatre; ‘A Few Good Men’ at Flat Rock Playhouse; ‘Macbeth’ at Theatre Row. Some TV includes Law & Order: SVU (NBC), Blue Bloods (CBS), Sam & Cat (Nickelodeon), Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, Directed twice by Debbie Allen), The Newsroom (HBO), and Masters of Sex (Showtime). Some film includes The Roe Effect (HBO), The Cycle (HBO), and Jackson Parish (BET, Craft Award for Best Actor at First Run Film Festival). As a producer, he won Best Solo Show at the 2015 DC Black Theatre Festival for The Michelle Play, about Michelle Robinson (Obama), written by his father, James Maurice DeLeon.
In addition to all his greatness James holds a Master’s in Classical Acting from the famed London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and completed his undergrad at State University of New York – Purchase College.
